With an urge and motivation to do something about the lack of younger artists taking up Indian performing arts, we decided to promote young artists and provide them with opportunities to perform. The cultural wing of Kala Pradarshini was formed under the guidance of Hon’ble Justice (Late) Shri K.S.Bakthavatsalam. The name was suggested by Sangeet Natak Akademy awardee Smt Nandhini Ramani

CULTURAL JOURNEY

Since 1998, the cultural wing of Kala Pradarshini has organized several thousand performances - Vocal, Dance and Instrumental, in an effort to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of traditional art forms. Each year festivals are organized showcasing talented youngsters and eminent international and national artists to perform. We curate three main festivals annually: our Annual Arts Festival, Ghantasala Samarpanam & Puraskar and Thyagaraja Aaradhana. Kala Pradarshini is proud to have introduced several art forms for the Chennai audiences. We have actively promoted other Indian dance forms apart from Bharathanatyam, such as Kuchipudi, Odissi, Sattriya, Kathak, Mohiniattam, Kathakalli. Musicians are given equal importance as well.

FISCALSUPPORT

It has not been an easy path financially as an NGO. However, with determination, we strive to work harder and overcome obstacles. We are thankful to the support of the Ministry of Culture, Govt of India, Sangeet Natak Akademi, patrons, generous corporate sponsors, parents of the enrolled students, volunteers and the Ghantasala family’s personal contributions, without which, we would not be able to serve and give back to the society in a meaningful way. With sufficient funding we will be able to mobilize more art forms and encourage more in the next generations to continue, and prevent an art form from dying.
