Through dance, the production captures the lyrical beauty of the compositions of Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya (also known as Annamayya), a mystic saint composer of the 15th century. Annamayya's compositions called 'Samkeertanas' were in praise of Lord Venkateswara, the deity of the Seven Hills in Tirumala and this ballet visualizes elements of the poet's life and his spiritual journey and experiences. Staged more than 200 times in various forums within India and abroad, the demand for this production was so high that after several repeated requests, a special recorded DVD was released.
